In my work, intimacy is the point of focus. Through the subjects I visualize in my drawings and paintings I try to evoke intimacy between me and the viewer.
I dive into my past and try to capture moments that I have experienced from a young age. The images refer to my memories from the village where I grew up as a child in the countryside in South China.
My work is characterized by its earthly tones that refer to the countryside. During the making process, I empathize with the workingmen, by bending over or sitting on the ground.
With my work, I not only give a glimpse into my personal life, but I also want to focus on traditional crafts and techniques that, just like intimacy in the present setting, I feel, sometimes gets lost.
